Maruti Suzuki India Limited has started exporting the e VITARA, Suzuki’s first Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV), as of August. More than 2,900 units were dispatched from Pipavav Port in Gujarat to 12 European countries, including the United Kingdom, Germany, Norway, France, Denmark, Switzerland, Netherlands, Sweden, Hungary, Iceland, Austria, and Belgium. This significant achievement coincided with an event at the company’s manufacturing facility in Hansalpur, Gujarat, on August 26, where India’s Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, celebrated the commencement of e VITARA production and recognized Maruti Suzuki as a representative of the ‘Make in India’ initiative. The e VITARA is produced solely at Maruti Suzuki’s Gujarat plant.

The initiation of exports signifies a crucial step in Suzuki’s plan to position India as the global manufacturing hub for the e VITARA. Mr. Hisashi Takeuchi, Managing Director & CEO of Maruti Suzuki India Limited, expressed pride in the Prime Minister’s acknowledgment of the brand, stating that the export launch of e VITARA to Europe is a moment of great significance. He emphasized the need for the product to meet world-class standards in technology, design, safety, and performance to satisfy customers in over 100 countries. Built on the new electric vehicle platform, HEARTECT-e, the e VITARA showcases a design that emphasizes advanced technology and strength, promising a delightful driving experience for European customers.
