Jaipur, May 17 (). The Meteorological Department has warned of thunderstorms, lightning, strong winds and dust storms in eastern and western Rajasthan on Wednesday.
The weather office has predicted similar conditions to continue in the western part of the state on Thursday. Surprisingly, even in the month of May, the desert state is yet to witness the heat that is usually experienced during this season.
Also, due to rain and dust storm, the temperature in many districts of the states has been recorded below 40 degrees in the last 24 hours. The minimum temperature has also dropped in some parts.
It rained in Chittorgarh, Bhilwara, Rajsamand, Jhalawar and Kota districts on Tuesday. Due to the rains, a drop in temperature was recorded in these cities as well as in the surrounding areas.
During the last 24 hours, Bikaner and Jaipur divisions recorded a significant drop in the day temperatures. Met department officials said the minimum temperature was below normal in Jaipur, Udaipur, Jodhpur and Bikaner and normal in all the divisions of the state.
Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, Barmer, Bikaner are considered hottest in this season. In these cities, a drop of about 6 degrees was recorded in the temperature in the last three days.
The mercury had settled below 40 degrees in districts like Jalore, Hanumangarh, Chittorgarh, Sikar, Pilani, Jaipur, Alwar, Bhilwara, Ajmer, Udaipur, Jodhpur, Dungarpur and Sirohi.
Sirohi and Bhilwara recorded a minimum temperature of 23 degrees Celsius, Jaipur’s maximum temperature was 39.2 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature was 25.3, Met department officials said.
