Microsoft has announced that the upcoming annual update for Windows 11, version 25H2, is now accessible in the Release Preview Channel. This update is part of the company’s ongoing rollout of second-half updates, adhering to a schedule that will extend into 2025. However, users should not anticipate significant design alterations or substantial advancements in AI capabilities. Microsoft has indicated that version 25H2 includes the same features and enhancements found in the current 24H2 release. Most features are introduced incrementally throughout the year, with an enablement package activating them all at once.
As previously explained in June, the shared servicing branch approach allows for a seamless transition from 24H2 to 25H2 with just a quick restart, minimizing installation times while activating improvements that were previously dormant in earlier updates. For those interested in an early experience, the update is now available. Users can install Windows 11 version 25H2 (Build 26200.5074) by joining the Release Preview Channel and navigating to the Windows Update section in settings to select the install option.
