Raipur: On November 1, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the new Legislative Assembly building in Chhattisgarh, marking an important milestone in the state’s Silver Jubilee year. Twenty-five years after its establishment in 2000, Chhattisgarh will now have a permanent and modern facility for its democratic processes. Constructed at a cost of Rs 324 crore on a 51-acre site, this new complex harmoniously combines tradition and modernity. The ceiling of the Assembly chamber features rice stalk motifs, symbolizing the state’s agrarian heritage, while the furniture and doors are crafted by tribal artisans from Bastar. Equipped with advanced digital infrastructure, the building facilitates paperless proceedings and can accommodate up to 200 legislators.
The complex is divided into three wings—A, B, and C—and includes the Assembly Secretariat, main chamber, and offices for the Chief Minister, Speaker, and ministers. Additional facilities include a 500-seat auditorium and a 100-seat Central Hall. Designed with sustainability in mind, the building incorporates solar panels, rainwater-harvesting lakes, and eco-friendly materials, exemplifying green architecture. The new Assembly symbolizes Chhattisgarh’s culture and progress, serving as a beacon of the state’s democratic spirit and the aspirations of its three crore citizens.
