During their meeting, he expressed his gratitude and discussed methods for improving the effectiveness of the Territorial Army battalion. He highlighted the necessity of ongoing development and teamwork to fortify the nation’s defense forces. Mohanlal remarked to PTI, “Receiving commendation from the Army Chief is a significant honor, and the Dadasaheb Phalke award also plays a part. Our meeting was productive, and we enjoyed a small lunch together.
This gesture is greatly appreciated within the fraternity that I have been a part of for 16 years. We also talked about enhancing the efficiency of the TA battalion and our contributions to the country.” Mohanlal’s association with the Territorial Army began in 2009 when he was appointed as an honorary Lieutenant Colonel. He has since been actively involved in various Army activities, such as visiting areas affected by disasters and engaging with personnel to better understand their challenges and contributions. He made history as the first Indian actor to receive such an honor from the Indian Army, acknowledged for his impactful roles in cinema and his promotion of patriotic values in Malayalam films.
