Chandigarh: The North American Punjabi Association (NAPA) on Tuesday expressed its profound condemnation and outrage regarding the “horrifying, racially aggravated rape” of a Sikh woman in Walsall, United Kingdom. This incident follows a similar racially motivated assault in Oldbury just weeks prior, leaving the Sikh community in shock, fear, and grief, according to NAPA. West Midlands Police reported that the young woman, in her 20s, was raped and assaulted by an unknown man in the Park Hall area of Walsall on Saturday. The attack has been officially classified as racially aggravated. The suspect is described as a white male in his 30s with short hair, dressed in dark clothing at the time of the incident.
Authorities have released CCTV footage and have urged the public to provide any information or dashcam footage that may assist in identifying the perpetrator. “This is an absolutely appalling and deeply distressing incident,” stated Satnam Singh Chahal, executive director of NAPA. “We stand firmly with the victim and her family and demand that the authorities take swift and decisive action to bring the perpetrator to justice. No woman should ever have to endure such horror, and no community should live in fear because of its identity,” he emphasized.
