Chandigarh, May 17 (). Taking cognizance of a complaint by an office-bearer of Gurudwara Shri Banga Nanaksar Ravidasia Singha in Punjab’s Bathinda district that over 60 armed men tried to forcibly take over the shrine, the National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC) ordered its chairman Vijay Sampla But on Wednesday issued a notice to the local administration.
In a written complaint to the NCSC, Gurdwara Committee Vice President Jasveer Singh Maharaj said that the Gurdwara was established in 1946 by Saint Sadhu Ram Tibbe Wale.
The spirit and faith of the Ravidasia Sikh community is attached to the dargah. More than 60 members of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) of Sri Damdama Sahib Talwandi Sabo Bathinda entered Gurdwara Bunga Nanaksar with sharp weapons and allegedly attacked sevadars (volunteers) with the intention of forcible capture.
The complaint states that several members of the gurdwara suffered injuries and were admitted to the hospital.
Meanwhile, the commission has asked the Divisional Commissioner, Inspector General of Police, Deputy Commissioner and Senior Superintendent of Police of Faridkot to probe the matter and submit an action taken report by May 31.
Sampla cautioned the officials that if the action taken report is not received within the stipulated time, the Commission may exercise the powers of civil court given to it under Article 338 of the Constitution and to appear before the Commission in Delhi. Can issue summons.
