Dainik Bhaskar Poll Indicates NDA Majority in Bihar

Patna: Following the conclusion of voting for both phases of the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections on Tuesday, early projections from the Dainik Bhaskar Reporters’ Poll suggest a definitive majority for the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA). The poll indicates that the Grand Alliance (Mahagathbandhan) is leading in 73 to 91 seats, falling significantly behind the NDA. Voting for Bihar’s 243 assembly constituencies occurred in two phases — with 121 seats on November 6 and 122 seats on November 11 — and the Election Commission reported a strong voter turnout statewide. The reporters’ poll, based on on-ground evaluations from correspondents across various districts, highlights a resurgent performance by the NDA, while the RJD–Congress coalition is expected to experience substantial losses.

Mukesh Sahni, the Grand Alliance’s chief ministerial candidate, is reportedly facing challenges in his own constituency and may be at risk of losing, according to the poll’s results. Notably, Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraj Party, participating in its first significant election, is reported to be in a tight race for three seats and could potentially secure representation in the Bihar Assembly. Additionally, Asaduddin Owaisi’s AIMIM is projected to be reduced to a single seat, indicating a significant decline from its prior performance. Several prominent constituencies are also facing possible upsets.

Key battlegrounds include Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sinha’s Lakhisarai seat, singer-turned-politician Maithili Thakur’s Alinagar, Tej Pratap Yadav’s Mahua, Union Minister Ram Kripal Yadav’s Danapur, and State BJP president Samrat Chaudhary’s Tarapur, all identified as crucial areas with potentially narrow margins. The Dainik Bhaskar survey highlights a marked shift in voter sentiment towards the NDA, especially in semi-urban and rural areas, while the Grand Alliance seems to have lost traction in critical regions of North and Central Bihar. The final vote counting will occur on November 14, determining if the projections match the electorate’s decision and if Nitish Kumar and his allies can secure another term in one of India’s most politically crucial states.
