Defending champion Neeraj Chopra was eliminated from the men’s javelin throw final at the World Championships after the fifth round, registering a best throw of 84.03m, which placed him eighth overall on Thursday. He was in eighth position after the fourth throw and fouled on his fifth attempt, leading to his exit from the competition. Only the top six athletes advance to the sixth and final round. Pakistan’s Olympic champion Arshad Nadeem also exited in the fourth round. Another Indian competitor, Sachin Yadav, remains in contention, currently in fourth place with a best throw of 86.27m.
