Chirag Paswan Announces Oath for New Bihar Government in Days

Patna: A significant update has emerged from Patna as the uncertainty surrounding the formation of the new Bihar government comes to a close. Following the NDA’s decisive victory in the Bihar Assembly elections, Union Minister and Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) leader Chirag Paswan has confirmed that the new government will be sworn in within the next six days. The coalition, energized by its substantial mandate, is rapidly working to complete all necessary arrangements ahead of the swearing-in ceremony.

In remarks to the media, Chirag Paswan stated that talks among coalition partners are already underway and that the final framework of the new administration should be ready by “today or tomorrow.” He added that he would engage in discussions with senior Union ministers by the end of the day and strongly underscored the importance of forming the government before November 22. His comments suggest that the NDA leadership is confident and fully coordinated regarding the subsequent steps. The urgency is related to the conclusion of the current Bihar Assembly term, which ends on November 22. The NDA is focused on ensuring a seamless transition and is keen on avoiding any delays in assuming power.

There is increasing public and political interest in how key ministries will be allocated and the anticipated decision-making approach of the soon-to-be-formed administration. The NDA achieved one of its most significant victories in Bihar’s political history, securing 202 of the 243 assembly seats. The BJP led the coalition with 89 seats, trailed by the Janata Dal (United) with 85. Chirag Paswan’s Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) performed notably with 19 seats, while the Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular) and Rashtriya Lok Morcha won 5 and 4 seats respectively. These results demonstrate strong cohesion among alliance partners and a decisive mandate from the electorate. Conversely, the RJD-led Grand Alliance faced a substantial defeat, ending with only 35 seats.

The RJD won 25 seats, Congress secured 6, the CPI(ML)(L) acquired 2, and both the Bharatiya Samaveshi Party and the CPI(M) managed one seat each. Prashant Kishor’s Jansuraj, despite considerable promotion, did not secure any seats. Meanwhile, the AIMIM obtained 5 seats and the Bahujan Samaj Party achieved 1. The election results clearly indicate that voters placed their confidence in the NDA, choosing stability over experimentation. With the NDA finalizing its preparations, Bihar is just days away from the oath-taking ceremony of its new government. The next major development to anticipate is the announcement of cabinet members and the initial decisions that will outline the new administration’s direction.
