Thiruvananthapuram, May 18 (). A newborn baby was found abandoned in a tapioca field in Kerala’s Pathanamthitta district on Thursday.
Manoj and his family, who live near Kaviyoor, heard the baby crying this morning.
The sound was coming from the tapioca field. Manoj went to the farm.
Manoj said, I picked up the child and informed the local police station. Someone had abandoned the newborn. The child looked to be a day or two old. Soon the police arrived and admitted the child to the local government hospital.
At present, the child is being looked after by the Child Welfare Committee.
Meanwhile, the local police have started investigation to trace the parents of the newborn.
