Nitish Kumar Takes Oath as Bihar Chief Minister for Tenth Time

Patna: Nitish Kumar was sworn in as the chief minister of Bihar for a record-setting tenth term on Thursday, leading a new National Democratic Alliance government during a grand ceremony at Patna’s Gandhi Maidan, which was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and chief ministers from over ten states. Alongside Nitish Kumar, Samrat Chaudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha also took their oaths as ministers and will serve as deputy chief ministers in the new government. A significant number of NDA leaders were included in the cabinet, highlighting a comprehensive power-sharing agreement among the JD(U), BJP, and their allied parties.

Those sworn in comprised senior JD(U) ministers such as Vijay Chaudhary, Bijendra Prasad Yadav, Shrawan Kumar, Ashok Chaudhary, Leshi Singh, Madan Sahni, and Sunil Kumar. From the BJP, Mangal Pandey, state president Dilip Jaiswal, Nitin Nabin, Ram Kripal Yadav, Sanjay Singh Tiger, Arun Shankar Prasad, Surendra Mehta, Narayan Prasad, Rama Nishad, Lakhendra Prashad Roushan, Shreyashi Singh, Pramod Kumar, Sanjay Kumar, Sanjay Kumar Singh, and Dipak Prakash were inducted. Santosh Kumar Suman, the son of former chief minister Jitan Ram Manjhi, also took the oath as a minister.

The ceremony, conducted under strict security measures, attracted numerous political leaders, including the chief ministers of Haryana, Assam, Gujarat, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Odisha, Delhi, and Rajasthan, emphasizing the NDA’s united display of strength following its significant victory in the Bihar assembly elections.
