A senior party official informed TOI on Sunday about the formation of the new NDA government. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to attend the significant event marking Nitish Kumar’s tenth term. The new cabinet will include at least one Deputy Chief Minister. Following the Bihar election results in 2025, the NDA will celebrate its victory at Gandhi Maidan. A senior BJP leader mentioned that top NDA figures, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah, several central ministers such as Rajnath Singh and Dharmendra Pradhan, and ally leaders like Chirag Paswan and Jitan Ram Manjhi, as well as UP CM Yogi Adityanath and Chief Ministers from other NDA-ruled states, will be present for Kumar’s oath-taking ceremony.
The Gandhi Maidan will be closed to the general public from November 17 to 20 to prepare for the swearing-in ceremony. During this time, public access will not be permitted. The temporary closure is to facilitate the necessary arrangements for the new Bihar government formation. Sources indicate that the cabinet berth-sharing arrangement among alliance partners has been decided. Besides the primary stakeholders, JD(U) and BJP, minor allies such as Chirag Paswan-led LJP (RV), Manjhi-led HAM-S, and Upendra Kushwaha-led RLM will also join the government. A senior BJP leader outlined the expected distribution: LJP (RV) is set to receive three cabinet positions, while HAM-S and RLM will each obtain one.
The maximum number of ministers taking the oath on Thursday will include 16 from the BJP and 14 from JD(U), along with the Chief Minister. A notification from the cabinet secretariat department indicated that the Bihar cabinet meeting of the outgoing government is scheduled for Monday at 11:30 am.
