Nitish Kumar to be sworn in as Bihar CM for a record 10th time

Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar met with Governor Arif Mohammed Khan on Monday to propose the dissolution of the current state Assembly effective Wednesday. On the same day, Kumar will resign to the Governor and present a letter of support from all NDA allies to establish the next government. The swearing-in ceremony is set for November 20. Earlier, Kumar convened a Cabinet meeting, after which a close aide and Cabinet member stated, “The Cabinet has decided that the CM should suggest to the Governor the dissolution of the current Assembly.

The Cabinet also congratulated the CM on the significant mandate.” NDA sources indicated that approximately 20 ministers are expected to take the oath alongside the CM, including around 6-7 ministers from both the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the JD (U), two from the LJP (RV), and one each from the Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular) and the Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM). Reports suggest that Santosh Kumar Suman of HAM (S), son of Union Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi, and RLM’s Snehlata, spouse of party leader Upendra Kushwaha, are anticipated to be appointed as ministers. The JD (U) and BJP are set to hold separate meetings on Tuesday, while NDA allies will convene on Wednesday to select their leader.

“There is consensus within the NDA to continue under Nitish Kumar’s leadership. Nevertheless, it will be a formal process to confirm him as the NDA leader on Tuesday,” remarked an alliance member. Tejashwi elected as RJD leader Newly elected RJD MLAs convened under Tejashwi Yadav’s leadership in Patna on Monday, where Tejashwi was chosen as the RJD legislature party leader. RJD chief Lalu Prasad backed Tejashwi’s nomination as the Leader of the Opposition.
