Patna: The newly established cabinet of Nitish Kumar in Bihar is scheduled to conduct its inaugural meeting on November 25, with significant anticipation surrounding the allocation of departments and policy initiatives. The meeting will commence at 11 a.m., representing the first official assembly of the state’s 26-member council of ministers under the newly inaugurated administration. For the first time in his political journey, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar will not be in charge of the Home portfolio. Instead, he will manage the General Administration, Cabinet Secretariat, Vigilance, and Election departments. Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary has been appointed to handle the Home portfolio, while the other Deputy Chief Minister, Vijay Sinha, will oversee Land, Revenue, and Mining.
This cabinet features a blend of seasoned politicians and newcomers, including ten first-time ministers taking on roles. The government has emphasized a balance of youth and experience, retaining several ministers in their existing portfolios. Supporters of the Janata Dal (United) gathered outside the Chief Minister’s residence throughout the day to extend congratulations to Nitish Kumar, who is beginning his 10th term as Bihar’s Chief Minister. Along with the two Deputy Chief Ministers, all cabinet members are anticipated to participate in the initial meeting, which has garnered interest from young people and women across the state.
