Jharsuguda: The Odisha State Pollution Control Board held a meeting to discuss the implementation of the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for Reclamation of Low Lying Areas by Filling with Ash. The objective was to ensure the environmentally responsible use of ash for filling low-lying areas, a crucial aspect of efficient ash management and land reclamation. The meeting was led by Hiranya Kumar Nayak, Regional Officer, Jharsuguda, with oversight from Anup Kumar Mallick, Regional Officer, Rourkela, and Satyanarayan Nanda, Regional Officer, Sambalpur. Representatives from key industrial companies participated, including Vedanta Limited, OPGC Limited, JSW Energy (Utkal) Limited, NTPC Limited, and JSW BSPL.
The representatives were informed about the updated SOP for Reclamation of Low Lying Areas and were instructed to follow the provisions within it closely. The participating companies expressed their intention to adhere to the guidelines set forth in the revised SOP. This partnership between the OSPCB and industry stakeholders signifies an important advancement in the effective execution of the SOP.
