OnePlus has officially announced the upcoming global launch of the OnePlus 15, revealing details about its design and color options, including the new Sand Storm variant. This Sand Storm color features a unique micro-arc oxidation treatment applied to the aluminum frame, using high-voltage plasma to create a ceramic coating on the metal. According to OnePlus, this process enhances the surface to be 3.4 times harder than raw aluminum and 1.3 times tougher than titanium. The back panel is designed with a smooth fiberglass finish that complements the frame. The OnePlus 15 will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset and will incorporate the latest version of OnePlus’s cooling technology.
While the launch date for the OnePlus 15 is confirmed, specific details regarding pricing and availability have not yet been disclosed. The design of the OnePlus 15 closely resembles that of the OnePlus 13T (also known as 13S), maintaining the squircle-shaped camera island in the corner rather than adopting a large central circle. Images leaked online confirm that the traditional OnePlus Alert Slider has been replaced with a customizable Plus Key shortcut button. The Sand Storm model features a fiberglass back and a ceramic-coated metal frame, which OnePlus claims is more durable than aluminum, titanium, and any other smartphone frame. The OnePlus 15 is expected to launch in India soon, with a display featuring a 165Hz refresh rate.
OnePlus has already teased the launch in China next month, leaving uncertainty about the timeline for US fans.
