OnePlus has officially unveiled its latest flagship smartphone, the OnePlus 15, omitting the number “14” in its branding. This new device marks a significant advancement in both performance and design. While it is set to launch in India soon, the exact date has not yet been disclosed. As anticipated, the OnePlus 15 will be one of the first smartphones equipped with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, the company’s most sophisticated mobile processor to date. The announcement was made in collaboration with Qualcomm in a joint press release, highlighting the strong partnership between the two brands.
Pete Lau, Founder of OnePlus, stated, “For more than a decade, OnePlus and Qualcomm Technologies have moved in lockstep to redefine what a flagship can be. With Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 at its core, OnePlus 15 carries that legacy forward – delivering the speed, intelligence and efficiency our users demand today and into the future.” The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset succeeds the Snapdragon 8 Elite found in the OnePlus 13 and is touted by Qualcomm as the fastest mobile CPU globally, combined with its most powerful GPU and NPU. The new hardware promises exceptional speed, sustained gaming capability, intelligent photography, and all-day efficiency, marking a significant performance upgrade.
The device will run on the latest version of OxygenOS, anticipated to be OxygenOS 16, which is designed to facilitate smoother multitasking, improved AI functionality, and a more robust gaming experience. OnePlus promotes the phone as providing an unparalleled gaming experience with seamless performance across leading titles. The OnePlus 15 will feature a 165Hz OLED display, placing it at the forefront of flagship display technology. Additionally, the company has introduced its proprietary DetailMax image engine, utilizing advanced algorithms to enhance image clarity and realism. The camera system will consist of three 50MP sensors, although this model will not feature Hasselblad branding or tuning, which was common in previous versions.
OnePlus confirmed that its parent company, Oppo, will maintain the Hasselblad collaboration for the upcoming Find X9 series. In terms of design, the OnePlus 15 draws inspiration from the OnePlus 13S and China-exclusive OnePlus 13T, but it is presented in a larger and more powerful format. The phone has been confirmed to come in black, with additional colors likely to be announced as the launch date approaches. Although a precise launch date has yet to be revealed, the OnePlus 15 is expected to debut initially in China before expanding to other global markets, including India.
With key features already teased, the launch seems to be imminent, promising a powerful flagship smartphone built on Qualcomm’s cutting-edge platform, complemented by a next-generation display and imaging capabilities.
