As the company readies for the launch of its highly awaited OnePlus 15 in India, recent leaks indicate that the Chinese smartphone manufacturer is simultaneously developing two additional high-performance devices, reportedly under a new ‘Turbo’ gaming series. Renowned Chinese tipster Digital Chat Station shared insights on the microblogging site Weibo, revealing that OnePlus is working on two gaming-focused smartphones within the Turbo lineup. These devices are anticipated to offer exceptional performance, featuring industry-leading chipsets, high refresh rate displays, and large batteries to appeal to mobile gaming fans.
The first device in the Turbo series is rumored to be equipped with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset, which is positioned just below the flagship 8 Elite Gen 5. OnePlus has allegedly confirmed plans to introduce this smartphone with the new SoC, highlighting its commitment to maintaining cutting-edge mobile performance. Initial reports suggest that this upcoming phone will feature a 1.5K AMOLED display with a 165Hz refresh rate, matching the smooth performance of the OnePlus 15 display. Additionally, it may include a substantial 8,000mAh battery, ensuring lengthy gaming sessions without frequent recharging. To enhance its premium appeal, the device could come with an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner, a feature generally found in high-end models.
In parallel, OnePlus is reportedly developing a second Turbo variant, which is expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chipset from the previous year. Although this chipset is slightly less powerful than the Gen 5, it still provides high-end performance, suggesting that this model will serve as a more budget-friendly option within the gaming lineup. The leak indicates that this device will feature a “high-performance display and a large battery,” although the specific capacity has yet to be revealed. However, earlier reports have hinted at a potential 9,000mAh battery, which would be among the largest ever included in a OnePlus device.
Interestingly, the leak also suggests that this second device could rival smartphones using the MediaTek Dimensity 8500 chipset, a processor anticipated to appear in upcoming models like the Redmi Turbo 5 and Realme Neo 8. At this time, OnePlus has not officially acknowledged the existence of the Turbo lineup. It remains uncertain whether these gaming-oriented smartphones will be available outside of China.
