OpenAI has introduced a significant upgrade to ChatGPT, turning it into a versatile multitasking hub. Users can now access their favorite applications directly within the chatbot, including Spotify, Canva, Coursera, Figma, and Zillow. This update was revealed during OpenAI’s DevDay event, representing a substantial move towards making ChatGPT a comprehensive platform for creativity, productivity, and daily tasks. The new features are powered by OpenAI’s Apps SDK, which enables developers to connect third-party services to ChatGPT. OpenAI aims to facilitate user tasks without the need to switch between multiple apps or websites. With these integrations, ChatGPT users can create playlists, design graphics, discover courses, or browse property listings through natural conversational prompts.
For example, users can instruct, “Spotify, create a playlist for my morning run,” and the AI will curate one based on their preferences. Alternatively, one might request, “Canva, design a promotional post for my bakery,” receiving an instant design preview without needing to open a separate application. To utilize these tools, users must link their respective app accounts to ChatGPT, allowing them to issue commands in a standard chat format.
Although the feature is still developing, Spotify has remarked, “It’s early days, so while we might not be able to deliver on every request just yet, we’ll continue to build, refine, and improve the experience over the coming weeks and months.” Among the initial group of integrated services, Canva is notable for its creative versatility. Users can create, preview, and adjust designs within ChatGPT by simply inputting commands like “make the text bigger” or “change the background color.” Once satisfied with the design, they can open it in Canva for final adjustments. Figma provides a similar collaborative design experience, allowing teams to brainstorm, create diagrams, or modify layouts via straightforward prompts.
Additionally, Coursera’s integration enhances educational opportunities within ChatGPT, offering personalized course suggestions, video lessons, and study resources based on user discussions. For those searching for real estate, Zillow introduces property listings into the chat interface. Users can ask ChatGPT to “find three-bedroom houses with a garden near Delhi,” and it will return relevant results complete with pricing, images, and maps. OpenAI has indicated that further integrations are forthcoming, with apps like Uber, DoorDash, Target, OpenTable, Peloton, Tripadvisor, and AllTrails expected to be added soon. These expansions will allow users to book rides, order food, make dining reservations, and plan outdoor activities, all through ChatGPT.
Later this year, OpenAI will also accept app submissions from developers, enabling them to create, publish, and eventually monetize their own ChatGPT-compatible applications. All submissions will undergo a review process before being included in the upcoming app directory. With these integrations, ChatGPT is rapidly transforming from a conversational AI into a vibrant digital ecosystem, merging chat, creativity, learning, and everyday convenience into a unified, seamless experience.
