Over 500,000 Girls Celebrated in Kanya Pujan During Navratri

On the auspicious occasion of Navratri, the Mission Shakti 5.0 initiative, led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, has significantly advanced women’s safety, dignity, and self-reliance. In response to the Women and Child Development Department’s call, Kanya Pujan events are being held across Uttar Pradesh on Ashtami and Navami (September 30 and October 1). On Ashtami alone, more than five lakh girls were honored, and over 1,500 girls were directly linked to the Chief Minister’s Kanya Sumangala Yojana. Launched on September 20, Mission Shakti 5.0 has developed into a comprehensive social campaign that safeguards women’s rights and celebrates every girl’s birth. Through Kanya Pujan, the Yogi government communicated a strong message: daughters are essential to families and society.

Ministers, district officials, public representatives, and community leaders attended these ceremonies, highlighting the campaign’s importance. Various government departments and organizations collaborated across districts to honor over 500,000 girls, reaffirming that the birth of a daughter is a blessing. The events featured cultural performances, folk songs, and interactive sessions that encouraged girls to seek education, health, nutrition, and self-reliance, while promoting positive social attitudes. Special counters were established to assist with registrations for the Kanya Sumangala Yojana, which offers Rs 25,000 in financial aid from birth to higher education under CM Yogi Adityanath’s guidance. Families received detailed information about the scheme to maximize benefits for eligible beneficiaries.

Mission Shakti 5.0 also combats social issues like child marriage, educational deprivation, and neglect of girls’ health, reinforcing its core goal of women’s safety and empowerment. The Kanya Pujan ceremonies transcended religious customs to symbolize a social revolution, conveying that daughters are not merely responsibilities but vital assets for the future. As Women’s Welfare Director Sandeep Kaur stated, this initiative will cultivate a positive perception of daughters and inspire progress throughout the state. Currently, Mission Shakti 5.0 represents a commitment to protect, respect, and empower every girl child, fostering a legacy of equality and empowerment that will shine in Uttar Pradesh for generations.
