Sidharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor’s romantic comedy, Param Sundari, is beginning to gain traction at the box office following a shaky start. The film has received a moderately positive reaction from both audiences and critics. It is gradually benefiting from word-of-mouth, resulting in a growing number of viewers, particularly in the US market. As of now, Janhvi Kapoor and Sidharth’s film grossed ₹10.25 crore in India, marking an 11% increase from the previous day and a remarkable 40% rise from its opening day on Friday. This brings the film’s total domestic earnings for its debut weekend to ₹26.75 million net (approximately ₹32 crore gross).
Trade experts indicate that the film is performing quite well internationally, especially in markets like the US and the UK, where Indian family romances and dramas tend to resonate with audiences. The overseas earnings are estimated at around $1.1 million (approximately ₹11 crore), leading to a total of approximately ₹43 crore in worldwide box office receipts. Consequently, Param Sundari has already outperformed the global earnings of Dhadak 2, which stars Sidhant Chaurvedi and Triptii Dimri. On its third day, Param Sundari surpassed ₹36 crore in worldwide collections. However, it still lags behind the record-breaking numbers achieved by Saiyaara, which was released in July and surpassed the ₹117 crore mark in just three days, continuing towards an estimated ₹570 crore.
For Param Sundari, the challenge now is to maintain its momentum as it heads into its first Monday. Directed by Tushar Jalota and produced by Dinesh Vijan of Maddock Films, Param Sundari is a cross-cultural love story that integrates modern technology with human connections. The film also features notable actors such as Sanjay Kapoor, Renji Panicker, Siddhartha Shankar, and Abhishek Banerjee, with the lead pair portrayed in significant roles.
