People will vote for change and progressive Karnataka: D.K. shivkumar

Bangalore, May 10 (). Karnataka Congress President D.K. Shivakumar on Wednesday said people would vote for change and a progressive state. He expressed confidence that the party would win 141 assembly seats.

Speaking to reporters after offering prayers at the Kekaramma temple before casting his vote at Doddalahalli near Kanakapura town, Shivakumar said he hoped the new voters would take up the responsibility of bringing about a change.

Young voters are intelligent and talented and they will take appropriate decisions, he said. They will remove this corrupt government and elect a Congress government.

Late Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi reduced the age of voters from 21 years to 18 years. They will vote for change – change for a democratic and global Karnataka. They are aware of the price hike, corruption in the government and I am sure they will vote for change.

The senior Congress leader further said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had told voters in the last election to first see their gas cylinder and then cast their vote.

He said, supporting Modi’s appeal, I also make a similar appeal that you see your gas cylinder and its price and then cast your vote.

Shivakumar is contesting from the Kanakapura constituency, which is considered his stronghold.

Against him, the BJP has fielded Revenue Minister R.K. Ashok has been fielded.

Asked if he was worried about the results, Shivakumar said in a lighter vein that anything could happen.

I can lose too. Let’s see what happens on the result day (Saturday).

Voting for the 224-member Karnataka Assembly is still underway.
