Bangalore, May 25 (). A major tragedy was averted at Mangaluru International Airport in Karnataka’s Dakshina Kannada district when a Dubai-bound Indigo flight hit a bird during take-off on Thursday.
According to airport sources, the incident took place at 8.30 am and created panic among the passengers. The flight was going from Mangaluru to Dubai.
When the flight had crossed the taxiway and was all set to take off, one of its wings collided with the bird. Sources said the pilot immediately informed the Air Traffic Control (ATC) about the incident and canceled the flight.
The authorities made alternate arrangements for the passengers to travel to Dubai. According to sources, the flight is being inspected by technicians.
