Bhopal, April 1 (). Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday launched a veiled attack on the opposition Congress, accusing it of trying to malign his image. He said that efforts are being made to malign his image since 2014, when the people of India elected him as the Prime Minister.
Modi made the remarks in Bhopal, where he flagged off the 11th semi-high-speed Vande Bharat train at Rani Kamlapati railway station during his day-long tour of the city. This is the first Vande Bharat Express for Madhya Pradesh, which will run between Bhopal and New Delhi.
Modi said, some people have resolved to malign my image and they have been making such efforts since 2014. Some of these are being done within the country, while some are supporting these people from outside. But, the people of this country are my security circle.
The Prime Minister appealed to the people not to fall prey to such hoaxes and support the developmental approach of his government.
Attacked the Congress and its leader Rahul Gandhi, who questioned the relationship between him (Modi) and business tycoon Gautam Adani.
The Prime Minister said that his opponents (Congress and Rahul Gandhi) are attacking him everyday. But I would urge the people of Madhya Pradesh to continue their support for the vision of development and not fall into false traps, he said. Madhya Pradesh has an important role in the development of the country.
Meanwhile, he also criticized the Congress for not upgrading India’s railway connectivity despite being in power for several decades. He said that Indian Railways used to get only Rs 600 crore budget before 2014, which has now increased to Rs 13,000 crore.
This is the basic difference between the Congress and BJP governments, Modi said. After independence we have got a setup model of Indian Railways, and it needs to be upgraded. However, previous governments focused on keeping only one family (the Gandhi family) happy.
While gifting the first Vande Bharat train to the people of Madhya Pradesh, PM Modi said that this would probably be the first time in the history of India that a Prime Minister would visit the same railway station twice in a short span of time. Notably, one of the two railway stations in Bhopal – Habibganj was redeveloped with world-class facilities and renamed after the Gond queen Rani Kamalapati by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in November 2021.
