New Delhi, May 5 (). The Delhi Police has arrested two members of the infamous Jitendra Gogi gang, who were allegedly planning to abscond one of their associates. Officials gave this information on Friday.
Police believe that Abhishek alias Mitta (24) and Naveen alias Shanichar (38), both residents of Sonepat in Haryana, were planning to abscond their accomplice Karambir during his court appearance in Delhi or Haryana.
The officer said that Abhishek was also involved in trying to escape Karambir from BSA Hospital in Delhi last year.
Special Commissioner of Police (Special Cell), H.G.S. Dhaliwal said that information was received in April that Gogi gang members were carrying out criminal activities in Delhi, Haryana and other states by procuring illegal weapons from Madhya Pradesh and Bihar.
Dhaliwal said, on April 27, specific input was received that two members of the Gogi gang would come to Gandhi Vihar in Timarpur, Delhi. After this a trap was laid. Both Abhishek and Naveen were caught after a scuffle. A huge quantity of arms and ammunition was recovered from them.
During interrogation, the duo revealed that they were procuring illegal weapons for their gang from Bihar and Madhya Pradesh to carry out criminal activities including extortion and supari in Delhi, Haryana and other states to establish the supremacy of their gang. Were.
They also disclosed that they were procuring arms from illegal arms manufacturers of Burhanpur (Madhya Pradesh) and Munger (Bihar) for more than a year, the Special CP said.
He further said that in 2022, Abhishek and his associates Shivam, Manjeet and others had planned the escape of gangster Karambir from the custody of Delhi Police at BSA Hospital in Rohini, Delhi.
The group armed themselves with weapons and chili powder and reached the hospital as planned.
The Special CP said, that day Karambir was taken by the police from Tihar Jail in a van for CT scan/X-ray. However, the test could not be conducted due to a technical fault in the machine and the accused Karambir was not taken out of the police van by the escort team, foiling the gang’s plan.
Abhishek visited Karambir in jail this year and once again conspired to get him released from police custody during visits to hospitals or courts.
However, Abhishek was arrested before he could commit the crime.
