Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Police apprehended three individuals, including a known female drug dealer, after confiscating brown sugar valued at Rs 60 lakh. This operation was initiated following a tip-off, during which the police’s special crime unit intercepted the suspects near Harirajpur Chhak in the Jatni police station area on Thursday, recovering 555 grams of brown sugar. The individuals arrested have been identified as Anita Paramguru (41), Rajendra Kumar Sahu (32), and Shiba Prasad Dash (28). In addition to the brown sugar, authorities seized two SUVs, cash amounting to Rs 5.10 lakh, five mobile phones, and gold jewelry, with the total estimated value of all items reaching around Rs 1 crore.
This successful operation underscores the commitment of the Bhubaneswar Cuttack Police Commissionerate to combat illegal drug activities within its jurisdiction. The confiscation of this substantial amount of narcotics and the arrest of these key suspects mark a significant step forward in the ongoing effort to protect the community. Authorities are dedicated to dismantling criminal networks and ensuring that those responsible are held accountable. The arrested individuals will be presented in court as investigations progress to trace the supply chain, identify financial backers, and reveal any broader criminal connections.
