Odisha police have marked the murder of a female traffic constable in Bhubaneswar as a ‘Red Flag’ case, enabling expedited investigation and close monitoring, an official reported on Friday. Constable Subhamitra Sahoo was reported missing on September 6, and her decomposed remains were later discovered buried in a forest in Keonjhar district. Bhubaneswar DCP Jagmohan Meena stated, “Given the sensitive nature of the murder, it has been classified as a ‘Red Flag’ case.” The ‘Red Flag’ designation, established in 2014, pertains to serious offenses against women, including rape and murder, to guarantee prompt attention and priority investigation, the official added. To date, police have apprehended three individuals, including her husband, Deepak Kumar Rout, aged 39, in connection with the case.
