Actor R. Madhavan, known for his enduring appeal since Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein, has generated excitement on social media with the first glimpse of his upcoming biopic G.D.N. He shared a clean-shaven photo on Instagram, stating, “Another day… another look… Life on set goes on. So very blessed and grateful… to have the most extraordinary cast, crew and wonderful producers. #GDN.” The film tells the story of Gopalaswamy Doraiswamy Naidu (GDN), a self-taught engineer and industrialist from Coimbatore, often referred to as the “Edison of India.” GDN is recognized for adapting imported technologies into affordable Indian solutions, developing the nation’s first indigenous electric motor, and creating innovations ranging from razors and fans to small petrol engines and agricultural hybrids.
He also established workshops, training institutes, and industrial exhibitions, and played a key role in setting up technical colleges, leaving a significant industrial legacy in Tamil Nadu. Directed by Krishnakumar Ramakumar, G.D.N. is produced by Varghese Moolan Pictures in partnership with Tricolour Films, with reports indicating that Madhavan and his wife Sarita are part of the production team. The film features music by Govind Vasantha, with a cast that includes Priyamani, Yogi Babu, and Jayaram, who enhance this inspiring story. Recently, Madhavan appeared in the streaming film Aap Jaisa Koi, portraying Shrirenu, a 42-year-old Sanskrit professor alongside Fatima Sana Shaikh. This film tackled unconventional romance in Jamshedpur and Kolkata, addressing societal norms and age-gap issues.
With G.D.N., Madhavan is set to embody one of India’s most inventive figures, providing viewers with a mix of inspiration, history, and cinematic storytelling.
