Jaipur, December 09, 2025. – Commandant Swati Sharma received prestigious national and state honors for her significant contributions to the Rajasthan Home Guards during the 63rd Raising Day.
Commandant Swati Sharma of the Rajasthan Home Guards Service has received two prestigious honors during the 63rd Home Guards and Civil Defence Raising Day. She was awarded the State level DG Commendation Disc 2025 and formally presented with the National-level DGCD Silver Disc and Commendation Certificate, which were announced by the DG Fire Service, Civil Defence & Home Guards, MHA during last year’s Raising Day in 2024. The awards were presented by Smt. Malini Agarwal, IPS, Director General, Rajasthan Home Guards, at a ceremony in Jaipur.
Sharma, an ex-Captain of the Army Ordnance Corps, has dedicated over a decade to the Rajasthan Home Guards. Her academic achievements include being a British Chevening Scholar for 2021–22 and holding an M.Sc. degree in Risk, Disaster and Resilience from University College London (UCL). This specialized training has greatly enhanced the department’s disaster response and capacity-building efforts.
Operational and Administrative Achievements
Commandant Sharma’s recognition is attributed to her extensive operational and administrative responsibilities in recent years. During Operation Sindoor, she coordinated with the DGCD in Delhi, state authorities, and Army establishments to facilitate the deployment of Border Home Guards. In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, she managed the deployment of Home Guards volunteers across Rajasthan as well as in Madhya Pradesh, Delhi, Punjab, and Haryana. Additionally, she oversaw the implementation of the HDMS online deployment software in Rajasthan, improving transparency and administrative efficiency.
Diverse Roles and Training Initiatives
At the state level, Sharma has held a variety of roles, including State Nodal Officer for POSH matters, Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), and Departmental Disaster Management Nodal Officer. She has ensured the Home Guards’ active participation in statewide mock drills and safety exercises. Her contributions also include reviving the Watermanship Course in Bengaluru, securing seats for Rajasthan personnel at the NDRF Academy in Pune, and introducing a Store Management Course for constables. Furthermore, she organized the first joint exercise involving 12 Home Guards and Civil Defence organizations alongside the NDRF and initiated the department’s first Drone Training of Trainers (ToT) workshop, advancing technological capabilities in disaster response.
