Ayodhya's New Ramayana Wax Museum Set to Open for Deepotsav 2025

Ayodhya, October 15: Following the grand construction of the Ram Temple in the Ram Janmabhoomi complex, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is preparing to unveil another significant attraction for Ayodhya — the world’s first Ramayana-themed wax museum, which is now complete and ready for its inauguration during the ninth Deepotsav celebration. Situated along the Chaudah Kosi Parikrama route, opposite Kashiram Colony, the museum recreates the divine ambiance of the Treta Yuga and aims to become both a hub of faith and a global tourist destination. Spanning 9,850 sq. ft. and built at a cost of Rs 6 crore, the fully air-conditioned facility features 50 lifelike wax figures of characters from the Ramayana, including Lord Ram, illustrating pivotal moments from the epic.

Visitor access will be restricted to 100 individuals at a time. Designed in a South Indian architectural style, the two-story museum brings the Ramayana to life, with the ground floor displaying scenes from Ram Lalla’s childhood to Sita’s swayamvar, and the first floor showcasing the exile, Lanka Dahan, and the Ram-Ravana conflict. Each wax figure is equipped with specialized lighting and realistic details in clothing, expressions, and postures. Visitors will experience the scents of the Treta Yuga along with the melodious chants of ‘Ram Tarak Mantra’ and Ram bhajans, fostering an immersive spiritual atmosphere. During the Deepotsav 2025 festivities, CM Yogi will dedicate this remarkable creation to the residents of Ayodhya and the world.

A grand idol of Lord Ganesha greets visitors at the entrance, symbolizing the auspicious commencement of their journey. A designated selfie spot has been established next to the child Ram statue, allowing visitors of all ages to capture memorable moments with the deity. The museum is equipped with comprehensive security measures, including a fire safety system linked to four emergency exits for prompt responses in case of emergencies. The project is being executed in partnership with the Municipal Corporation. According to Municipal Commissioner Jayendra Kumar, 12% of the museum’s revenue will be allocated directly to the Municipal Corporation, aiding in Ayodhya’s development.

Constructed by a Kerala-based company, Sunil Wax Museum, the project stands out, with Sunil, the company’s head, noting, “We have previously created celebrity wax museums in Lonavala (Maharashtra) and Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala), but this Ramayana museum in Ayodhya is truly exceptional. We have intricately sculpted 50 characters from the Ramayana, allowing visitors to feel as if they have stepped into the Treta Yuga.” Additionally, preparations for parking, a studio coffee house, snack zone, and entertainment area are underway outside the museum. Tourists will not only engage with the wax figures but also indulge in a mix of South Indian and North Indian cuisines, reflecting Ayodhya’s cultural richness. This museum will signify a pivotal advancement for Ayodhya.
