Trinamool Congress MLA Jiban Krishna Saha, arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in connection with a multi-crore recruitment scam in West Bengal, on Saturday said he is confident that he will continue to get support from the party leadership in this hour of crisis. .
This morning, when CBI officials were taking Saha for medical examination, he stayed for a while and interacted with media persons. Saha said, I have not committed any crime and hence I am sure that the party leadership will stand by me.
When told by media persons that the official stand of the Trinamool Congress is that it does not support anyone involved in corruption within the party, Saha said that since no crime has been proved against him so far, he should be allowed to join the party leadership. Getting support.
Saha is the second Trinamool Congress MLA after former West Bengal education minister and party general secretary Partha Chatterjee, who claimed to continue supporting the party even after his arrest in connection with the multi-crore recruitment scam.
Reacting to her statement, Trinamool Congress Rajya Sabha member Dr. Shantanu Sen claimed that it is true that the official stand of the party is not to support anyone involved in corruption, irrespective of his position in the party. But again it is a matter of investigation whether central agencies are deliberately isolating and harassing MLAs of any political party, he said.
Currently, three Trinamool Congress MLAs are in custody for their alleged involvement in the recruitment. Apart from Partha Chatterjee and Jiban Krishna Saha, the third such MLA is Manik Bhattacharya, who is also the former chairman of the West Bengal Board of Primary Education. The CBI has started investigation against Tapas Saha, the fourth MLA of the ruling party from Tahta assembly constituency in Nadia district.
