Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has introduced an ambitious plan to establish Hyderabad as a global center for the film industry. During a significant event hosted by the Telugu Film Industry Employees Federation and 24 Crafts Union at Yousufguda Police Grounds, Revanth expressed his commitment to attract Hollywood productions to Hyderabad with the support of the Telugu film community. He compared the film industry to essential sectors like IT and pharmaceuticals, assuring that his administration would implement tangible measures for the benefit of film workers. Recognizing the challenges faced by numerous employees, he announced a ₹10 crore welfare fund aimed at assisting them and pledged to extend government welfare programs to their families.
In a significant decision, Revanth stated that increases in movie ticket prices would only be sanctioned if producers agreed to allocate 20% of their profits to film workers. He also promised housing plots for employees, quality education for their children, and healthcare access through the Rajiv Arogyasri scheme. His earlier proactive measures had successfully addressed the conflict between producers and workers, resulting in higher daily wages. These recent announcements have further bolstered the trust between the government and the film industry. With these initiatives, Hyderabad’s film ecosystem seems ready for a new phase of development, inclusivity, and international acclaim.
