RJD Leader Issues Warning Over Bihar Vote Count Integrity

Patna: As Bihar anticipates the results of its 2025 assembly elections, a provocative statement from senior RJD leader Sunil Kumar Singh has sparked a political uproar. Singh, a close associate of Lalu Prasad and the maternal uncle of Tejashwi Yadav, cautioned that any “rigging” in the November 14 vote count would lead to unrest akin to that seen during political upheavals in Nepal, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka. With both phases of polling completed, marked by a record voter turnout and heightened security around strong rooms, Singh asserted that “what happened in 2020 must not be repeated,” alleging vote manipulation in several constituencies five years prior. “If the administration attempts wrongdoing again, Bihar will be on the streets,” he stated.

“If our winning candidates are defeated through dishonesty, unimaginable violence will occur. No one will be able to control it.” He further claimed that officers operate “under pressure from tired and retired officials” and cautioned them against “repeating the mistakes of 2020,” alleging that he himself was “cheated” in ten seats, including Hilsa. These remarks have attracted sharp criticism from the NDA. BJP spokesperson Neeraj Kumar accused the opposition of “inventing excuses” in anticipation of defeat. “They know they have lost the confidence of the people of Bihar,” he commented. “These threats are nothing but frustration.

They want to blame the administration even before counting begins.” Sunil Kumar Singh, who has previously faced repercussions for derogatory comments about Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, has a track record of incendiary remarks. His latest warning comes at a critical juncture, with political tensions escalating and anticipation building ahead of Thursday’s results. Counting is set to commence at 8am on Friday across all 243 constituencies.
