Patna: Rohini Acharya, daughter of RJD leader Lalu Prasad, has intensified the strife within Bihar’s leading political family by claiming she was mistreated, struck with slippers, and removed from the household for questioning the involvement of two significant aides in the party’s electoral loss. Rohini, who garnered public support for donating a kidney to her father, stated that the altercation at Rabri Devi’s home in Patna began when she identified Sanjay Yadav and Rameez—both close associates of Tejashwi Yadav—as contributing factors to the Rashtriya Janata Dal’s substantial defeat in the assembly elections. “Everyone is asking why the party was defeated, but mentioning Sanjay or Rameez leads to being expelled from the house,” she remarked.
Departing the residence in tears, Rohini avoided inquiries from journalists before proceeding directly to Patna airport. There, still visibly shaken, she expressed to the media that the party’s leadership was reluctant to acknowledge accountability for the loss. “Tejashwi and Sanjay Yadav refuse to accept any responsibility. They prefer to blame others—me, Tej Pratap, anyone—just to clear themselves,” she stated. In a pointed criticism of her own family, she added: “I have no family. Inquire with Sanjay, Rameez, and Tejashwi Yadav. They cast me out because they do not want to take responsibility. If someone aspires to be Chanakya, they should address the workers. The entire nation is questioning why the party is in this predicament.

Earlier in the day, Rohini shared on social media that Sanjay Yadav and Rameez had cautioned her to distance herself from politics and the family even prior to the election campaign, yet she alone is now being blamed for the loss. The tension has been brewing for months: during Tejashwi Yadav’s campaign tour in September, Rohini expressed disapproval of Sanjay Yadav occupying Tejashwi’s seat on the campaign bus. This incident incited coordinated online attacks against her, leading her to consistently assert that she sought no ticket, position, or Rajya Sabha seat. She later returned to the campaign trail to support party candidates.
The RJD’s overwhelming defeat has now turned its focus inward, with the quest for accountability igniting open conflict within the Yadav family. As the party strives to regroup, the public dispute between Rohini and Tejashwi’s inner circle has revealed profound divisions regarding strategy, influence, and accountability at the upper echelons of the RJD.
