Samsung, India’s leading consumer electronics brand, has recently inaugurated the Mumbai chapter of its Galaxy empowered initiative, a unique community-driven program designed to enhance classroom experiences by equipping teachers, principals, and school administrators with advanced digital tools and contemporary teaching methods. Following a successful introduction in New Delhi, where the program impacted over 250 schools and certified more than 2,700 educators, Galaxy empowered is now extending its reach to Mumbai—India’s financial and educational center—with the goal of making a significant contribution to the country’s educational landscape. The launch event in Mumbai attracted over 350 educators and school leaders from 250 institutions across Maharashtra and surrounding regions, highlighting the program’s momentum and the strong need for professional development among teachers.
Dignitaries present included Shri Mangal Prabhat Lodha, Minister of Skill Development, Entrepreneurship & Innovation, Maharashtra; Shri Vishal V. Sharma, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of India to UNESCO, Paris; and Shri Himanshu Gupta, Secretary of CBSE, along with senior Samsung India executives, education specialists, and numerous educators from CBSE, ICSE, IB, IGCSE, and state boards. Raju Pullan, Senior Vice President, MX Business, Samsung India, stated, “Mumbai embodies the spirit of innovation in Indian education. With Galaxy empowered, we aim to provide educators with the necessary tools to engage students, spark curiosity, and effectuate meaningful changes in classrooms nationwide.
Our goal is to empower 20,000 teachers by 2025, and launching in Mumbai is a key step in that direction.” Shri Mangal Prabhat Lodha emphasized, “India is advancing rapidly, and initiatives like Samsung Galaxy empowered reflect our collective commitment to fostering a skilled and future-ready nation. If each person contributes their best, there is nothing to prevent India from becoming a global leader in education. Samsung’s current efforts set a path toward the future we seek to create. By empowering educators, we will collectively shape the future of society, and India will reach new heights.” Galaxy empowered is built on three essential pillars: 1.
AI and Technology Upskilling – Providing hands-on training through adaptable online modules, immersive bootcamps, and access to digital teaching resources, classroom applications, and virtual environments. 2. Experiential Learning & Certification – Offering in-person workshops, mentorship, and certification support focusing on lesson planning, teaching innovation, and educator wellness. 3. Peer Networking & Community Building – Connecting teachers with a national network of peers, thought leaders, and Samsung mentors for idea exchange and ongoing professional development. Aditya Babbar, Vice President, MX Business, Samsung India, remarked, “Through Galaxy empowered, we are assisting teachers in seamlessly integrating AI and technology into their lessons, increasing engagement, and preparing classrooms for the future.
This initiative is more than just training; it is a movement.” He added, “Empowering our educators is vital for transforming classrooms and readying learners for the future. Samsung’s Galaxy empowered initiative is a timely response supporting India’s goal of inclusive, equitable, and quality education, aligning with UNESCO’s SDG4 global objectives under Education 2030. With 1.5 million schools, 42,000 colleges, around 1,100 universities, and 10 million teachers, India has the largest educational ecosystem in the democratic world. The National Education Policy (NEP) represents a significant strategic overhaul of the education sector. By providing educators with digital tools, peer learning communities, and future-oriented training, this program aligns with the NEP and reinforces India’s leadership in establishing a resilient and forward-looking educational system.
We commend Samsung for its investment in the teaching community and its role in this vital educational transformation journey,” stated Shri Vishal V. Sharma. Galaxy empowered is a complimentary initiative for both educators and institutions. Participants will benefit from exclusive Samsung offers, which include special pricing on smartphones, tablets, and consumer electronics, as well as extended warranties and free insurance options. Shri Himanshu Gupta, Secretary of CBSE, commented, “The future workplace is expected to undergo significant changes in the coming years, making it crucial for educators to be prepared. AI can function as a strategic tool to enhance content creation, refine assessment methods, and improve classroom interaction.
Specifically, generative AI presents new possibilities through customized prompts, content generation, and tailored mapping of learning requirements. Programs like Samsung Galaxy empowered are enabling teachers to comprehend and effectively utilize AI tools. At CBSE, we are introducing computational thinking from Class 3 to foster logical and creative skills from an early age. I applaud Samsung’s dedication to teacher empowerment and encourage the integration of AI-driven assessments into training.
