Samsung and Nvidia Collaborate to Create an AI Megafactory with 50,000 GPUs

Samsung has unveiled a significant partnership with Nvidia to establish a cutting-edge AI megafactory, a pioneering effort that aims to integrate artificial intelligence throughout its worldwide semiconductor manufacturing processes. Announced on Friday and initially reported by Focus Taiwan, the initiative seeks to revolutionize chip design, production, and robotic operations by utilizing real-time data intelligence sourced from over 50,000 Nvidia GPUs. The new AI-enhanced manufacturing platform is described as an ‘intelligent manufacturing platform’ that will analyze, predict, and optimize chip production in real time. A representative from Samsung stated, ‘The Samsung AI Factory goes beyond conventional automation.’ It will connect and interpret the vast amounts of data generated across chip design, production, and equipment operations.

This partnership is an extension of a 25-year collaboration between Samsung and Nvidia, which began with Samsung supplying DRAM chips for Nvidia’s first graphics cards. Over the years, their alliance has developed into a comprehensive partnership, encompassing memory, foundry, and next-generation computing technologies. Their current joint projects include the development of HBM4, Nvidia’s upcoming high-bandwidth memory, utilizing Samsung’s sixth-generation 10nm-class DRAM and 4nm logic base die. Samsung aims to enhance its range of HBM, GDDR, and SOCAMM solutions, along with its foundry services, to promote innovation and scalability across the global AI value chain. Central to the AI megafactory are Nvidia’s Omniverse and Cuda-X platforms, which will enable Samsung to produce digital twins of its semiconductor fabrication plants.

These virtual models can replicate real-world production scenarios, allowing engineers to evaluate new processes, anticipate maintenance requirements, and enhance performance without interrupting actual operations. Furthermore, Samsung will utilize Nvidia’s cuLitho software to expedite computational lithography, a vital phase in chip production that dictates circuit detail and accuracy. The company expects up to a 20-fold performance increase, facilitating quicker design cycles and better chip yields. In addition to chip design and lithography advancements, Samsung plans to employ Nvidia’s RTX Pro 6000 Blackwell Server Edition GPUs to boost humanoid robot intelligence and Jetson Thor modules for real-time AI reasoning in smart robotic systems.

The companies are also collaborating on AI-RAN technology, a mobile network powered by AI aimed at allowing edge devices—such as drones and industrial robots—to process data locally in real time using GPU acceleration. This strategy is intended to minimize latency and improve operational efficiency. According to Samsung, ‘This AI-powered mobile network will play a crucial role as a neural network essential in the widespread adoption of physical AI.’ Samsung intends to replicate its AI megafactory model across all its semiconductor facilities globally, including the forthcoming plant in Taylor, Texas, reinforcing its goal to lead in memory, logic, foundry, and advanced packaging sectors. Currently, Samsung’s proprietary AI models support over 400 million consumer devices.

With the introduction of its new Megatron framework, the company aspires to integrate similar AI functionalities into its manufacturing operations, facilitating intelligent summarization, multilingual communication, and advanced reasoning throughout production lines. A Samsung official remarked, ‘This is a critical milestone in our journey to lead the global shift toward AI-driven manufacturing.’
