Begusarai: Sanjay Paswan has made history in the Bihar Assembly elections by winning the Bakhri (reserved) seat and becoming a minister in his first term as MLA. His victory as a leader of the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) has brought joy, pride, and a sense of hope for development among the people of Bakhri and Begusarai. Born in 1974 in Pokhariya, a locality in Begusarai’s urban area, Paswan grew up in a humble and impoverished family, facing numerous challenges in his early life. Those who know him describe him as polite, calm, and soft-spoken, with a warm smile that is his signature. After completing his graduation, he chose to enter politics to advocate for social change.
His political journey commenced in 2015 when he joined the LJP. From the start, Paswan demonstrated dedication and hard work as a party member. In just a few years, he advanced from being a grassroots worker to the district president, and the party later recognized his efforts by appointing him to the parliamentary board. Even during the internal struggles within the party following Ram Vilas Paswan’s passing, Sanjay Paswan remained steadfast in his support for Chirag Paswan, demonstrating unwavering loyalty. This commitment and performance led the party to grant him the Bakhri ticket, despite some objections from local leaders. The voters, however, rallied behind Paswan and elected him as MLA with high hopes.
In acknowledgment of his contributions and electoral success, he has now been appointed as a minister in the new government. As a minister, Sanjay Paswan now bears the significant responsibility of delivering on his promises. The residents of Bakhri are optimistic that under the “double-engine government,” he will expedite development projects. Key priorities are anticipated to include enhancements in health services, improved educational facilities, expansion of rail and road transport, and the establishment of factories to curb migration from the region. The public is confident that his leadership can transform the future of Bakhri and usher in long-awaited progress and opportunities.
