Sanjoy K. Roy's Debut Book on the Supernatural Launched in Delhi

In New Delhi, HarperCollins India hosted the launch of “There’s a Ghost in My Room: Living with the Supernatural,” the debut book by renowned arts entrepreneur and Managing Director of Teamwork Arts, Sanjoy K. Roy. The event took place ‘Under the Banyan Tree’ at 1AQ, Qutub Minar Complex, attracting a host of friends and dignitaries. Veteran actress Sharmila Tagore, a long-time friend and associate of Roy, officially launched the book, which was followed by an engaging discussion between journalist Mrinal Pande and the author. The evening, set beneath a majestic banyan tree with the Qutub Minar in the background, captured a blend of memory, nostalgia, and reflections on the supernatural as a pervasive presence in some lives.

Roy’s first experience with ghosts occurred at age five in his ancestral Kolkata home; later, he encountered similar phenomena at his parents’ bungalow in Lutyens’ Delhi. In his debut book, described as an “accidental memoir,” Roy shares rich anecdotes from his extraordinary life and the various supernatural experiences he has had in different locations. He believes that a multitude of spirits and lost souls exists in a parallel dimension. Tagore expressed her admiration, noting, “The entire team at Teamwork Arts has been so gracious to me, all because of Sanjoy’s leadership. And today, his book is releasing — he’s written about ghosts and all wonderful things,” while reading from Roy’s memoir.

Udayan Mitra, Executive Publisher of HarperCollins India, remarked on Roy’s remarkable life filled with extensive travel and diverse activities in advertising, theatre, and arts entrepreneurship, emphasizing that the book connects these experiences through his encounters with the supernatural.
