Security tightened at religious places in UP Lucknow, June 2 (). In Uttar Pradesh, security has been tightened at Hindu religious places like Ayodhya, Varanasi and Mathura in the wake of terror threat. Uttar Pradesh police officials said that anti-sabotage investigation teams would be deployed at these locations to detect explosives and unwanted material.

ADG (Security) Vinod Kumar Singh said two new investigation teams would be deployed at the Ram Janmabhoomi complex in Ayodhya, while one each would be deployed at the Kashi Vishwanath temple in Varanasi and the Vrindavan temple in Mathura.

Ten teams were flagged off to their destinations on Thursday.

Four teams are to be deployed at religious places, six others will be stationed at Government Railway Police Divisions in Lucknow, Prayagraj, Gorakhpur, Moradabad, Agra and Jhansi, he said.

The ADG said that Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) and Anti-Sabotage Detection Teams were recently added to the arsenal of the State Security Headquarters.

Two BDDS and two anti-sabotage checking teams have been deployed for security checks at the Ram Janmabhoomi complex in Ayodhya in April. One BDDS is posted at Lucknow Secretariat Complex, Allahabad High Court, Lucknow Bench of Allahabad High Court.

The ADG said that in 1987 there were five BDDS teams, which increased to 26 in 2010.

He said, at present, there are 61 AS investigation teams and 31 BDDS teams in the Uttar Pradesh Security Headquarters. All BDDS teams are equipped with AC buses for movement.
