In a ceremony honoring mainstream cinema, President Droupadi Murmu awarded National Awards for acting to Shah Rukh Khan, Vikrant Massey, and Rani Mukerji, while Malayalam icon Mohanlal received the Dadasaheb Phalke lifetime achievement award. The event showcased notable talents, including filmmaker Vidhu Vinod Chopra, who clinched the best film award for “12th Fail,” alongside Karan Johar and Apoorva Mehra, who were recognized for “Rocky Aur Rani Kii Kahaani” as the best popular film for providing wholesome entertainment. Sudipto Sen earned the best director accolade for “The Kerala Story.” The National Awards for 2023 were revealed in August, marking the first win for frequent collaborators Shah Rukh and Rani, as well as for Vikrant.
Shah Rukh was honored for his performance in “Jawan,” sharing the accolade with Vikrant, while Rani received recognition for her role in “Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway.”
