Patna: Shreyasi Singh, the newly elected BJP MLA from Jamui, made a significant announcement for Bihar’s athletes upon assuming her role as the state’s IT and Sports Minister. She stated that the upcoming years will herald a promising future for sportspersons in Bihar, with the government committed to bolstering the sports sector. According to her, new policies will be implemented, providing athletes with increased motivation and enhanced facilities to enable them to excel at the highest level. Reflecting on her personal journey, Shreyasi noted that her 18 years of experience as a sportsperson grants her a profound understanding of the emotions athletes experience, the challenges they encounter, and the support they require.
She also mentioned that her family’s longstanding connection with the National Sports Association equips her with insights into sports administration. She believes there is significant potential in sports, and now is the moment to transform that potential into success and accomplishments. Shreyasi expressed a sense of pride and responsibility, recognizing that this department holds particular importance for Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. She pledged to work diligently to ensure that the government is not let down and that Bihar’s athletes receive every possible opportunity for growth.
Moreover, she expressed optimism that robust development in sports could alleviate unemployment and migration in the future by generating better opportunities for the youth within the state. When questioned about Nitish Kumar’s political strength, Shreyasi refrained from commenting and emphasized that decisions made by senior leadership should remain unquestioned. She also outlined her priorities as minister, stating that she will soon convene a departmental meeting, create a blueprint, and work methodically towards achieving results. Addressing challenges, she acknowledged their existence in every field but asserted that as a determined woman and sportsperson, she is unafraid of obstacles and knows how to confront them with resilience.
