Shutdown of student organizations against Jharkhand government's planning policy was effective

Ranchi, April 19 (). The bandh called by student organizations on Wednesday to protest against the recruitment policy of the Jharkhand government is having a significant impact in many areas of the state including Ranchi. In Chaibasa, Jamshedpur, Ramgarh, Dumka, Seraikela, Sahibganj, Giridih, Bokaro districts, students protested by blocking highways and major roads at many places.

Markets and shops have also been closed at many places. Most of the schools and colleges have been kept closed in Ranchi. Bandh supporters also clashed with the police in one or two cities including Ranchi.

In view of the bandh call, the police-administration has made strict security arrangements. Police of all the districts of the state is in alert mode.

In Ranchi, a group of students reached the weekly market in Morhabadi area of ​​the capital early in the morning and tried to get it closed. Here the police chased away the students. An attempt was also made to block the road in Ratu of Ranchi. The blockade was lifted here on the intervention of the administration. Even autos did not ply in Ranchi city. Due to this the people of the city had to face a lot of trouble. Ranchi Police has detained more than three dozen students trying to call off. Ranchi SSP Kishor Kaushal said that strict action will be taken against those who forcibly closed.

In Ramgarh, students blocked the Ranchi-Patna main road for two hours. Because of this, there was a long queue of vehicles on NH 33. Bandh supporters also blocked the Ranchi-Patratu road for a long time and raised slogans against the government.

In Jamshedpur, pro-bandh students blocked the highway near Kandra by burning tires at various places. Later, the police reached the spot and removed the jam.

Apart from this, the students sat on a dharna on the middle of the road at Karandih Chowk. This led to long queues of vehicles on both sides of the road. In Chaibasa city, the students went around and closed the entire market. Students armed with sticks protested by lighting fires at several squares and intersections.

In Sahibganj city, Saksharta Chowk was blocked by students and markets were closed. At many places, women and girl students also took to the streets in support of the bandh. Markets were closed at many places in Dhanbad and Giridih and roads were blocked. Bandh supporters also blocked the road in Chakradharpur.

Student organizations calling for the bandh say that the protesting students say that in the new planning policy brought by the government, a ratio of 60-40 has been implemented for recruitment in jobs in the state. Means 40 percent posts will be occupied by candidates from states outside Jharkhand. The students are demanding reservation of class III and IV jobs for the native youth of the state. Apart from this, students are also protesting against the closure of DLED studies in government institutions.
