Siddaramaiah killed 24 Hindu activists, alleges Karnataka BJP MLA

Bangalore, May 24 (). Harish Poonja, BJP MLA from Belthangady constituency in Dakshina Kannada district in Karnataka, has stoked a fresh controversy by saying that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah killed 24 Hindu activists.

Congress workers are preparing to file a police complaint against Harish Poonja.

MLA Harish Poonja said this while venting his anger on Hindu activists campaigning for Congress. He was speaking at a local event last week. Audio and video clips of the statement have gone viral on social media. Hindu activist Satyajit Surathkal campaigned for the Congress party.

You sought votes for Siddaramaiah, who killed 24 Hindu activists, the MLA said. You asked for votes for Congress, which is talking about banning Bajrang Dal. A new controversy has arisen due to Poonja’s statement.

The BJP has been alleging that during Siddaramaiah’s tenure between 2013 and 2018, several Hindu activists were killed in the coastal Karnataka region, especially in Dakshina Kannada district.

The saffron party further alleged that the Siddaramaiah-led Congress government protected the accused by deciding to withdraw cases against PFI and SDPI activists.

The BJP made it an election issue in 2018 and won elections in the coastal region.

Siddaramaiah had then denied patronage to the accused persons and said that the killings took place due to rivalry and personal enmity.

The CBI investigation revealed that Paresh Mesta, a Hindu youth who was alleged to have been killed in the communal violence, was killed in an accident. During the elections, the investigation report proved to be a big blow for the BJP.
