Bengaluru, May 18 (). Karnataka Chief Minister-designate Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister-nominee D.K. Shivakumar reached Bengaluru on Thursday evening, where he was given a rousing welcome by his supporters.
Both the leaders were warmly welcomed by thousands of Congress workers and supporters on their arrival from Delhi. Flowers were showered on the vehicles of both the leaders. Various cultural troupes performed on the road side to mark the occasion, while enthusiastic workers burst crackers.
Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar arrived together in a special aircraft from Delhi, but reached the Congress headquarters in separate vehicles to attend the Legislature Party meeting.
Siddaramaiah boarded a car driven by Hebbal constituency MLA Bhairathi Suresh. He greeted the workers by shaking hands. The workers showered flowers on his vehicle. The crowd also encouraged Shivkumar by waving his hand. All the way from HAL to the KPCC headquarters, party workers lined up on both sides of the road to welcome the two leaders.
Thousands of workers also gathered near the party headquarters to welcome their leaders.
Both the leaders are about to address the Congress Legislature Party meeting. Shivakumar, who is also the Karnataka Congress party chief, will chair the meeting.
