New Delhi, May 29 (). Amid protests by Punjab Congress leaders over the Aam Aadmi Party’s support to the ordinance issued by the central government regarding Delhi, former state Congress chief Navjot Singh Sidhu on Monday said that there cannot be an alliance where there are ideological differences.
Punjab Congress leaders were here today to meet the party’s National President Mallikarjun Kharge on issues like support to AAP on ordinance and alliance with AAP in Lok Sabha.
The meeting was attended by former Congress chief Rahul Gandhi, Amarinder Raja Waring, Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, Pratap Singh Bajwa, Harish Chowdhary, Sidhu and many others.
After the meeting, when Sidhu was asked about an alliance with AAP for the 2024 Lok Sabha polls in the state, he gave a cryptic reply saying, “If there are ideological differences, an alliance cannot be formed.”
And I am clear about it because my fight is for truth and I am following it and I don’t compromise on moral values,’ Sidhu said. Today the moral values are at the lowest level as the democratic values have been destroyed.
Meanwhile, several other party leaders said that whatever they have to say on the issue, they have conveyed to the party leadership and cannot be disclosed publicly.
Several Congress leaders from Delhi and Punjab have opposed supporting Kejriwal on the ordinance issue. Senior Congress leaders like Ajay Maken, Sandeep Dikshit and Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa have already said that the party should not support AAP.
Earlier, several party leaders asked Kharge not to forge an alliance with AAP for the 2024 polls and not support it on the ordinance issue.
