Sonam Bajwa shares surprising support from parents regarding on-screen kisses

Actress Sonam Bajwa has discussed a personal experience that defies a common belief in Indian families, particularly concerning women in the film industry. While many actresses have disclosed that their families discouraged them from engaging in intimate scenes, Sonam revealed that her parents held an unexpectedly progressive view. In a recent interview, the Punjabi actress shared that she adhered to a “no-kiss” policy during the beginning of her career. Worried about public perception, particularly among Punjabi audiences and family viewers, she declined multiple Hindi film offers that involved intimate scenes. “I always thought people from my hometown would judge me. More than that, I constantly feared what my parents would think,” she explained.

However, years later, when she gathered the courage to inquire how her parents would react if she performed a kissing scene in a film, their answer astonished her. “They simply said, ‘It’s part of acting. What’s the big deal?’ I felt shocked and relieved. I had been carrying this fear for years for no reason,” Sonam disclosed. Sonam Bajwa, who has appeared in Punjabi, Tamil, Hindi, and Telugu cinema, made her Telugu debut in Aatadukundam Raa alongside Sushanth and also featured in Babu Bangaram with Venkatesh. She was last seen in Housefull 5 and is currently promoting her upcoming film Ek Deewani Ki Deewaniyat with Harshvardhan Rane, where she shared this candid perspective.
