Sony has officially launched its flagship WH-1000XM6 headphones in India, enhancing its acclaimed 1000X series. This new model features significant advancements in noise cancellation, sound quality, and smart functionalities compared to its predecessor. With the integration of the next-generation chip and advanced algorithms, Sony guarantees minimal distractions and studio-quality audio performance. The WH-1000XM6 is offered in three color options: Black, Platinum Silver, and Midnight Blue, with a price tag of ₹39,990. It is available for purchase at Sony Centers, select Croma and Reliance stores, and on Amazon. In line with sustainability efforts, Sony has utilized 100% paper-based materials for the packaging.
The WH-1000XM6 builds on the legacy of the 1000X series, known for its premium sound and leading noise cancellation capabilities. The headphones feature Sony’s HD Noise Cancelling Processor QN3, which is reportedly seven times faster than its predecessor. They utilize twelve microphones—1.5 times more than the WH-1000XM5—for accurate, real-time noise cancellation. The Adaptive NC Optimiser improves performance by adjusting to external conditions and air pressure, making it suitable for various environments. Sound quality is enhanced with a new driver unit and an advanced beamforming microphone system that elevates audio output and call clarity.
The AI-powered microphone design isolates the user’s voice from background sounds, while the Sony | Sound Connect app provides customizable settings, including a 10-band EQ and specific profiles for music, cinema, and gaming. While maintaining the recognizable design of the 1000X series, Sony has improved comfort and durability with a vegan leather asymmetrical headband and softer, stretchable earpads. A sturdy folding mechanism ensures durability, and touch controls along with tactile buttons allow users to switch between noise-cancelling, ambient sound, and microphone mute modes. The headphones are packaged with a compact travel case featuring a magnetic closure.
The WH-1000XM6 includes Scene-based Listening, which adjusts playback according to location and activity, as well as Quick Access for immediate music streaming via Amazon Music or Spotify. It supports LE Audio, Auracast, Multi-Point connectivity, and Auto Switch. A quick three-minute charge provides around three hours of playback, and USB charging allows for listening while charging. Audio enthusiasts can enjoy Hi-Res Audio and Hi-Res Audio Wireless through LDAC, DSEE Extreme upscaling, and 360 Reality Audio Upmix for spatial sound. Gamers will appreciate a dedicated Game EQ tuned with Sony’s INZONE expertise. Calls are handled through a six-microphone AI-based beamforming system that effectively filters out background noise, with a dedicated mute button for quick control.
The WH-1000XM6 is strategically positioned to rival Bose and Apple, delivering advanced technology for both audiophiles and everyday users.
