Initially, SpiceJet will operate the A340 under a wet lease model and will later shift to a damp lease arrangement, which offers increased operational flexibility and substantial cost savings. Pending regulatory approvals, the A340 is intended to be a long-term addition to SpiceJet’s fleet, with operations planned for well beyond a year. Additionally, SpiceJet is in advanced discussions for leasing another wide-body A340 aircraft, further enhancing its fleet and supporting its long-term growth strategy. This announcement follows the airline’s recent agreements to introduce 18 Boeing 737 aircraft, including four Boeing 737 MAX models, which are scheduled to join the fleet starting in October 2025.
