Jammu, March 29 (). Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Wednesday said that the Union Territory has maintained a stupendous pace of development during the last 3-4 years.
Addressing a press conference on the Jammu and Kashmir Budget 2023-24, Sinha said the highest ever investment of Rs 1,547.87 crore has been received during the last 10 months and 500 startups have come up during the last three years.
Jammu and Kashmir has witnessed an economic growth of 14.64 percent and has registered an increase of 31 percent in tax revenue during the last year. There has been a significant improvement in the law and order situation in Jammu and Kashmir and the highest number of 1.88 crore tourists visited Jammu and Kashmir this year.
J&K has been one of the top performers in the country for implementation of schemes like Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY), Amrit Sarovar, Swamitva Yojana, Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, Drug Free Campaign and Renewable Energy Development .
Around 50 lakh youth have participated in various sports activities this year under My Youth My Pride, Har Day Khel Har Ek Liye Khel. Under the Digital J&K initiative, 445 online services are being provided through the e-Unnat portal.
All online services have been linked to the Public Service Guarantee Act in Jammu and Kashmir. J&K is the first among the States/UTs to have a District Good Governance Index to assess public service delivery at the district level.
Aspirational Panchayat Development Programme, Aspirational Block Development Program and Aspirational Town Development Program are three new initiatives being implemented in J&K. There has been a slight decrease in the unemployment rate. 33,426 posts have been sent to recruitment agencies.
25,450 selections have been made, including 2,436 selections from Jammu and Kashmir Bank Limited. Around 2,02,749 youth have been covered under various self-employment schemes and it is targeted to cover 2,37,000 by the end of the current year. Next year around three lakh will be covered under all self employment schemes.
9228 works were completed in 2018-19, 12,637 works in 2019-20, 21,943 works in 2020-21 and 50,627 works in 2021-22 and this year we expect to complete 70,000 works. This is a paradigm shift in the pace of development in J&K in the last three to four years.
LG Sinha said that road construction almost doubled to 3,200 km from 1500-1600 km in 2018.
